Dot’s Home Live!

 Dot’s Home Live! Premiered for a limited run June 30th & July 1st, 2023 at Andy Arts in Detroit

Dot’s Home Live is a live theater performance, based on the award-winning video game Dot’s Home. It transforms a single-player experience into a collective one, where audience participation determines the outcome of the story. The production is a collaboration between A Host of People, Rise-Home Stories, PowerSwitch Action, and grassroots community-based housing and economic justice organization, Detroit Action. 

The story is set in Detroit, and follows a young Black woman living in her grandmother’s beloved home, as she relives key moments in her family history where race, place and home collide in difficult choices. Following the performance, Detroit Action led a community conversation to examine how these policies play out in Detroit today and how even though ‘the game is rigged,’ everyday people are fighting for (and winning!) true housing justice.
